an Experiences my dad had when he was younger here is his account....
Alterego/Mysterous flashes
There were other strange things which happened during the 1964/65 era, one of the things which occured quite often were strange flashes from the sky. I do not beleive this was lightning, because it would occure on clear nights when there was not a cloud in the sky, and it would only happen at night. These flashes remind me of the bright flash that occures when a nuclear bomb is detonated. It was more like an energy flash than anything, I could see the bright flash hit the ground and bounce back up into the sky like energy bouncing off the landscape. It was really strange. Another strange thing that happened was people would see their double, and I have also heard this from other people. This happened to my sister B... I think the year was 1965, when shhe was standing in front of our house she saw her double. A girl who looked exactly like her and was the same age, came walking in front of our house one day. My sister and her double were looking at one another shocked that they looked exactly alike. My sister's double never took her eyes off my sister. She even turned around walking backward they kept their eyes glued to each other until my sister's double disappeared down the street never to be seen again. My theory is that there are parallel worlds which coexist with this one. These parallel worlds are a mirror reflection of this world, and our doubles or alter egos exist. I saw a series on TV called sliders not too long ago, and I think that series hit the nail right on the head. How else would we explain people seeing their own double. It might be possible that a portal opens between our world and the world containing our alter ego. Maybe our alter ego can pass into our realm of existance just long enough for us to see them before they vanish back into their own existance.

Stephen King also refers to such things in his stories based on the real accounts of people in Maine where reality seemed thin, all weird things happening. Where other dimensions and other worlds would blend with ours.
I have witnessed aliens distort reality: time/space/gravity myself on a small scale, which was also very similar to a spell a pharaoh's saucerer cast on an enemy army in a fiction book, forget the author, he's famous for writing fiction books about ancient egypt.
I wonder if alien presence can distort reality and let all sorts in, if it was intentional or circumstantial, or if this distortion can invite alien activity.
